England Championships 2022

Following the success of the Virtual England Weightlifting Championships held in 2021, British Weight Lifting are pleased to announce that an England Championships will take place between 29 - 30 October 2022 at Derby Arena.

The England Championships will be a festival of Olympic weightlifting with participants aged from 15 through to 80+.  The event is a tier 2 competition and will see weightlifters and para-powerlifters crowned Champions of England.

Eligibility

The England Championships will recognise the following Olympic weightlifting age groups in the BWL TCRR;

Senior                                               Aged 15 to 34 on 31 December 2022

Masters*                                           Aged 35 or above on 31 December 2022

*Masters age groups will be in 5-year increments (35-39, 40-44, 45-49 etc up to 80+)

Qualification

The England Championships will have the following qualification process:

• Lifters must achieve the minimum qualification standard to become eligible for the event.
• Qualification standard must be achieved within the published qualification period.
• The qualification period is 1 January 2021 – 1 August 2022.
• The qualifying totals for 2022 for Seniors and Masters can be found here.

BWL will accept the qualification totals achieved in the qualification period from any BWL tier 1, 2 or 3 competition as well as the BWL virtual open series.

Lifters may move bodyweight category up to 7 days before the event takes place by giving written notice to competitions@britishweightlifting.org

Lifters who do not make weight at the event will be allowed to compete as guests only.

Entries

As the event is capped at 200 entries for weightlifting and 20 for para powerlifting, the registration is on a first come, first served basis within the class.

The entries will open at 09:00 on Monday 1 August.

The entry fee is £40 and entries will close at 17:00 on Monday 26 September, or when the competition reaches 200 entries for Masters and Seniors and 20 for Para Powerlifters, whichever comes first.

*Please note that a child concession is someone aged between 11 - 16 years of age.  Photographic ID to prove age may be required. Anyone aged 10 and under can enter the competition free of charge with an accompanying adult.
