The squad will have four camps over the next twelve months and athletes will be offered access to the BWL performance hubs monthly to train as a team.
Athletes will have support from the performance team to guide their planning for the Commonwealth Games in 2026 and the highest ranked athletes within the squad will receive additional support including medical insurance and access to sport science and medicine support via the TASS Scholarship scheme.
Andy Callard a key member of the coaching team for the Commonwealth Games Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022 has commented,
“We’re one year on from Birmingham 2022 and there are already some strong English lifters coming through that have the potential to win medals in 2026. It’s exciting that we are looking at the next generation of up and coming English weightlifters and I’m looking forward to working with them to help them be as good as they can be over the next three years. Hopefully we can carry on England’s recent successes at the last two Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the Gold Coast.”
